Around Tucson

Looking for lunch sites during the conference itself, near the Tucson Marriott University Park?  Check out Nearby Restaurants

Looking for things to do on your own before or after the conference?  Tucson has a great tourist information website.  Arts, culture, caving, hiking, bird-watching, the desert museum – there are tons of things to see and do in the area!

In the immediate vicinity of the conference site is the Arizona State Museum ($5 entry fee) and other University of Arizona arts and museums.

Traveling with family?  Both the Arizona-Sonora desert museum (great place to see animals) and Old Tucson (old film set turned amusement park) are easy day trips from Tucson.

Like Jazz?  The Tucson Jazz Festival is in town at the end of the IBS conference from January 12-22nd.

Have a car and able to spend a few days?  The Grand Canyon is a 5.5 hour drive, Zion and Bryce National Parks in Utah are 8.5 hour drive north, and the Chiricahua Mountains to the west are ~ a 2 hour drive.

Check out the Field trips page for organized trips before and after the conference!
